Dear New Heights Families,
With winter weather soon upon us, I want to explain what will happen for our students if school is designated as an E-Learning Day, Canceled, or Released Early due to weather. Below are the terms and expectations should school be affected by weather conditions. Please be aware of the terminology used by the EGF School District when they announce an E-Learning Day, School is Canceled, or Released Early due to inclement weather.
Terms & Expectations
2-Hour Delay: School will start 2 hours later than normal. 10:00 am will be the first bell. 10:05 am students should be in their classrooms. Arriving after 10:05, your student must report to the office for a tardy slip. There will be No Breakfast Served on these days as well.
Early Release: In the event of inclement weather, school will dismiss early for the day. *This differs from the Early Dismissal days already on the official school calendar.
E-Learning Day: The district has determined that it is unsafe for students or staff to be in school due to poor weather conditions. Instead, students should complete one (1) activity under each column of their E-Learning Cards. Please sign and date the E-Learning Card and have your student return it to their classroom teacher within three (3) days from the E-Learning date. Returning this E-Learning Card is how we take attendance for the E-Learning Day. Failure to return the E-Learning Card will reflect as an absence on the E-Learning Day for your student. Academic experience is expected as students can participate in educational and learning activities assigned on the E-Learning Cards that are located in the back of their Take Home Folders. Five (5) E-learning days are permitted to be used in the district each year. Five (5) E-Learning Cards are in the back of their Take Home Folder. Please use one (1) E-Learning Card per E-Learning Day. Your student does not need to make a BINGO but should do at least one (1) activity under each column to show completion of the E-Learning Card.
School is Canceled-Traditional Storm Day/Snow Day: No academic experience is expected for the students. This is considered a storm day, as it has been named in the past school years, where students would remain home for the school day due to bad weather. Class is canceled, attendance is not counted, and Mr. Grover decides how to build that canceled day back into the school year.
Copies of your student’s E-Learning Card can be found on the EGF District website under the “Our District” tab, then click on E-Learning. Please click on your student’s grade level to download the correct E-Learning Card. Your student’s classroom teacher is available via their school email between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Sincerely,
Chad Grassel, Principal
