TITLE I

The U.S. Department of Education makes annual appropriations of funds to state educational agencies (SEA), and states follow a formula to distribute these funds to local educational agencies (LEA).

Title I, Part A funds are primarily for school-level programming to raise the achievement of students not meeting standards in schools with high percentages of low-income children through either a Schoolwide Plan or a Targeted Assistance Program. 

At East Grand Forks, we meet our students' needs through a targeted assistance program with a TIER 2 reading intervention. We aim to have 100% of our students reading at grade level.

Annual Parent Notice
Right to Request Teacher Qualifications

Dear Parent/Guardian:

In accordance with ESEA SECTION 111(h) PARENTS RIGHT TO KNOW, the East Grand Forks School district is notifying parents of students enrolled in a Title I school that you have the right, and may request, information regarding the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teacher. This information regarding the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teachers includes, at a minimum the following:

  1. Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

  2. Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or another provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.

  3. The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.

  4. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

The school will notify you if your child has been taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified.
