Hello from the EGF Music Boosters! As February winds down, we want to call your attention to the fact that March is Music In Our Schools Month, and we want to get instruments in the hands of as many of our students as possible! Our 5-12 band program is strong and continues to grow. However, because band instruments can be expensive to rent or buy, not every student who may be interested in participating may be able to do so. It is with this in mind that the EGF Music Boosters is organizing an instrument drive during the month of March.
Are you a parent of a former band student who no longer participates in the program? Did your student musician graduate recently (or not so recently) and their horn is now just lying around your house? Perhaps you yourself are a musician who just doesn't play much anymore.
If you have an unused instrument languishing in a closet or collecting dust under a bed, we would love to get it in the hands of a motivated young musician! Even if you're concerned it may no longer be playable, we will accept any instrument in any condition. Woodwind instruments like flutes and saxophones are often the instruments our programs are shortest of, but we will happily accept any and all!
As an added bonus, you can consider your donation of an instrument a charitable contribution (EGF Music Boosters is a non-profit organization) and use it as a deduction when filing your taxes - you determine the value.
Please bring your donation to the Senior High office during regular school hours. If it is more convenient, you can also send donations to school with your child and their music teacher will gladly accept them.
Feel free to pass this information along to any friends or relatives you think may be interested in contributing to this worthy cause. Thank you in advance for your help sharing the gift of music with another generation of young people!
