Knowing that we are coming into another Minnesota winter where our weather can be unpredictable, CMS wants to proactively communicate our plans for E-Learning Days if that decision is made on a weather day by our School District Superintendent Kevin Grover. To review the EGF School District's plan, please go to https://www.egf.k12.mn.us/page/elearning on our school district website.
At CMS, students are expected to do their learning and school work from home when an E-Learning day is called.
On an E-Learning day, CMS students will:
Check the Daily Assignments links for their grade level
Log in to each class's Google Classroom
Complete work as assigned by teachers (unless a different plan was communicated ahead of time)
Submit assignments on the day of or within 3 school days to earn credit for work completed AND to be counted for daily attendance.
Send emails to teachers with any questions
Complete any work listed as "missing" in their classes
Review their overall grades in StudentVue
Read a good book (E-Learning Days are great days to read and reach your reading goals faster!)
We also encourage our CMS students to help out at home on an eLearning day! Shoveling, doing dishes and the laundry as well as other chores are also great ways to contribute to the family. AND for good measure, we HIGHLY encourage our students to get outside in their warmest winter clothing to PLAY, too.
We have reviewed this information with our CMS students and staff and are ready to do good work learning online if an E-Learning day is called this winter. A reminder, too, that a school district is allowed to call up to 5 E-Learning days in a school year.
As always, if you have questions about the good work we do here at CMS and the efforts of our district to support our students, please reach out.
Thank you,
Jill Walter, Principal
